Allow me to start by saying the top person in management (Joseph Defranza) is a very level headed, strategic thinking person who I respect a great deal. He always makes time to speak with everyone who has a question or concern.
I recently had an in-depth conversation with him about the lack of continuity with the other members of his floor staff. I've been to many card rooms around the country and I see how other rooms are being operated. Wind Creek is behind in certain areas yet up to par with other rules & amenities. For example: if there's a particular rule regarding a player getting up from his or her seat while in the hand then that rule should apply to everyone and there shouldn't be different interpretations of said rule depending on who the floor person is at the time a ruling needs to be made.
I've asked 3 different floor staff members about a particular rule, then I asked Joseph the same question and I received 3 different responses. Now in the defense I get that there's going to be some gray areas regarding the scenario but we can all agree that certain rules that are black & white should have one ruling while other rules can vary. All floor members do their best to make a fair ruling and should be commended for the job they do.
One of the best decisions Joseph made was reducing the number of players to 8 per table. Gives the players more leg room and comfortability. The seating area while waiting for an open seat is small and should be bigger, but the poker room itself isn't that big either so I get they had to compromise.
Lastly I want to touch on the process of the high hand promotion. I've noticed many times when someone does hit a high hand the dealer has to yell loudly, multiple times to get the floor's attention to come verify the hand. Not to mention when the hand is displayed on the monitor screen it sometimes isn't accurate. Often times it's still showing the hand from a half hour before as well as the time slot. As soon as the new half hour begins please show the current time and remove the previous winning hand.
So to sum up everything I'm speaking to in this review CONTINUITY is an issue and needs to be addressed in a respectful and civilized manner to all the floor members and dealers. Poker isn't going anywhere anytime soon! So let's make it an enjoyable experience for everyone who decides to come through Wind Creek Poker Room to play.
