So bad it's good

The CNE poker room is what happens when you let carnies run a gambling operation.

What makes this room annoying is that the staff, especially the managers who run it, think they are real casino workers. If they would just have a sense of humour and acknowledge that they are unemployable misfits the other 11 months a year, it would be fine. But unfortunately they have attitude and that's why makes it annoying.

In sum, this place is an absolute joke:

-the managers don't know what is going on.
-the dealers don't know the rules.
-the chips have diseases dating back to the 1980s on them.
-they are short staffed always, so they need operate a 5 hour waiting list. But they have an abundance of "security", aka the cell phone police. If you dare you to touch your phone while at the table, you'll hear about it. The sneaky hunting skills of these dudes is incredible.

This place is an absolute donkey show, and the people running it should be ashamed of themselves.

That being said, that is sort of what gives this place its charm. Even though it is without a doubt, the worst poker room on the planet, there is something to love about it, and I'm always a bit sad on Labour Day when it shuts its doors for another year.

Long live the CNE poker room!
