Just recently wrapped up a month long trip in Texas playing in card rooms around Houston/SA. I have to give a special shout-out to Paramount. I initially had penciled them into my schedule for their $10k GTD on the first Saturday of the month, as well as their $15k GTD on the 3rd Sunday of the month. They left such a good impression on my initial visit though that I spent a good amount of my trip at this room. From the managers, to the staff, and the players here, I was all in for this place. Even the snacks get a mention, until someone else starts giving Gansito's out lol.
The time is fair and on par with the rest of the town. The one down side was no kitchen but the staff/players are accommodating with helping you find something not too far away, if you're from out of town and unfamiliar. The place is big. Plenty of space, unlike some rooms I visited where too many tables were crammed into a much smaller space.
The action here though was impressive. Whether it was in the tourneys or in the cash game (I played 1/2 NLH; some PLO; tons of tourneys)
If you're visiting Houston and looking for action def give this place a try. I asked locals why there weren't more people here and they gave a plethora of answers but none of them made much sense and were definitely not enough to deter me from the action there.
Give it a shot, if you're looking for some action. You can get all kinds of action in TX (in general), but this is the "good kind" of action.
