I mainly play in San Antonio but happened to be passing through town and dropped in. 101 Poker has a very different cash payment structure than most rooms -- instead of charging time every 30 minutes or hour, they rak... *EH HEM*
"charge time"
every pot up to $10 in $75+ pots. This is honestly my only gripe with the place, especially with a lack of promos. This ridiculous ... "time charge" is partially made up for in what amounts to free food and free drinks (up to and including alcohol, even wine), which is spectacular. (Side note: they claim $5 of the $10 taken out of the pot goes towards the food and drink, which I think is excessive.) I had beef fried rice and a greek salad, and both were phenomenal. This helps mitigate what I still think is too big of a ... "time charge". So, make sure you come hungry and ready to drink so you can get your money's worth.
However, in every other aspect, I really enjoyed my time here. There is lots of action, great dealers, and the other players were very fun to play with and were all having a great time. The atmosphere was also really cool. The place has this homey bar-type atmosphere that I just love. It's a relatively small room, but all the tables were filled and everyone was having fun. It's an awesome hang out spot, and that's the biggest selling point to me.
