I must say I am pleasantly happy about the new poker room. It's bright, comfortable, tables are bigger, clean, and well located enough for everyone to get to.
In terms of rake I would say the room start to charge $10 rake but only after so much discussion brought back down (from $15) to newly increased rake at Edgewater.. If you are driving to park in the casino, parking is free for the first month and management is trying to figure out how to charge if they gonna charge to their regular players so it's to be determine. Another big issue is good service to poker tables for now has no food service yet there are plans for food to be served hopefully it will be done properly!!! I know it might sounds so negative review but parq poker room has very good management team but many dealers aren't trained well at all considering Plo game that I play the amount of money exchange is happening it's not the way I want my money to be handled by rookie dealers!! Hopefully they would do something about it.
Maybe this is a small thing, but the room is very loud even when the Casio is not full. When it's busy it's very loud.
A big issue is that there are only 6 table serving all the players in vancouver which means that there huge wait lists. This is because the city has limited the number of tables and bclc does not distinguish between hosted games like poker and games against the house like baccarat. The city and bclc must fix this.
Lastly if the province and bclc are serious about money laundering they will provide a safe (legitimate) environment for poker players and not push us to back room home games. There are so many home games now EVERYBODY knows it. They are not all safe, there is lots of money and things can go wrong. We know the only way to improve things is for the city and province to allow legal poker games in a way that works for the host/Casino and the players.
