PokerAtlas Weekly NJ Online Poker Update: 1/26/14

Posted on Jan 25, 2014

Here's what's happening at all the New Jersey online poker sites for the week ending 01/26!

WSOP.com

According to PokerScout, WSOP-com had a 24 hour peak of 456 and a 7-day average of 200. This is a substantial increase from 390 and 170 last week, so the player population in New Jersey appears to be accelerating at a rapid rate. This is good news for everyone!

The $25,000 Weekly Sunday Guarantee occurred on Jan. 19 with 147 players, a massive spike from last week's 115 players -- it helps that WSOP New Jersey's first online championship series is about to kick off, so interest in big tournaments is high. The buy-in was $200 +$15, so it beat the overlay by $4,400 this time. It was won by cbinz, who got a big $8,085. Squertz, last week's winner, failed to cash, though he played. Jakep474, who won two weeks ago, also played but didn't cash. juice, the winner four weeks ago, fifth three weeks ago, sixth two weeks ago, and sixth again last week, finally broke his streak, finishing out of the money in 98th. He's still ahead of the game, though.

The $10,000 Weekly Sunday Guarantee, with a buy-in of $100 + $9, got 127 players, also a nice jump from last week's 101 players. This beat the overlay by $2,700. This time, the winner was darrenelias. LordDonk, last week's winner, did not play this week.

Look for satellites at WSOP-com in both New Jersey and Nevada for this summer's live World Series of Poker events, happening in just a few months.

PartyPoker

On PokerScout, the PartyPoker numbers look like this: a 24 hour peak of 604 and a seven-day average of 260. The peak number is up significantly from last week's 575. Party / Borgata and its competitor, WSOP, are very close in numbers now, which is outstanding news for all concerned.

See below for the major tournament results, as PartyPoker and BorgataPoker share players and all major tournaments. There are separate promotions on each site, so it's still worth playing on both sites, though not at the same time, as the software prevents it.

BorgataPoker

The BorgataPoker numbers on PokerScout are the same as the numbers on PartyPoker, as they share players: a 24 hour peak of 604 players and a seven-day average of 260.

The Sunday $50K guaranteed on BorgataPoker, on Jan 19, had 257 players, a drop from last week's 267 players, and 277 the week before. The buy-in was $185 + $15, so the overlay was a significant $2,455. This event was won by nyr112messier, who got $8,250. MrColdstone, last week's winner, played this week but failed to cash.

The Saturday $10K guaranteed, the day before, got 132 players, a nice spike from last week's 105 players. The buy-in was $91 + $9, so it beat the guarantee by an impressive $2,012. The winner was kwame1, who got $2,282,28.

888 Poker

The "Big Sunday" $10,000 Guaranteed event on 888 happened on Jan. 19, with 44 players, down from last week's 51 players and the week before's 52. This means that, with a buy-in of $185 + $15, the overlay was $1,420. The tournament was won by KorbenDallas, who got $2,300. sizzlinbetta, who won last week, played again this week but failed to cash.

Though 888's population is growing, it appears PokerScout has no way of keeping track of player totals.

Ultimate Poker

The PokerScout numbers for Ultimate Poker New Jersey show a 24 hour peak of 47 and a seven-day average of 16. These numbers are incrementally higher than 45 and 14 last week. The weather in New England looks awful now and this coming week, so expect a big jump here.

Ultimate Poker runs a $20,000 Sundays guaranteed event. Last week there were 104 players, a tick up from the week before's 99 players, and 78 the week before that. The buy-in is $91 + $9, so the overlay was $10,536. This time, GB2005 won the event and took home $5,830. This event will likely have an overlay for some time.

Betfair

Betfair Poker has not grown enough to have large guaranteed tournaments or to be listed on PokerScout.
