The Texas Card Houses are like finding an oasis in the desert. When people hear you say poker room or card house, they instantly think shady, dirty, scary people, and on and on.
These places are very clean, well lit, and have a large friendly police presence inside and out to make sure when you leave with your winnings you get to keep them.
You can snack on the food options and order a drink or have food delivered in while you play.
If you're having to monitor your phone, text, or just feel like watching something while you play, you can do that with no grief from the dealers or other players. Now and then you will hear someone get a little frustrated but never out of control. The ladies that work there are very appropriate and are always properly dressed, which was a pleasant surprise to my wife when she went over to cheer me on at a tournament.
In all, there is nothing the least bit shady, at least at the one in spring where I mostly play, and they go out of their way to make you comfortable and make you visit extremely welcoming.
