I visited the location 30 days ago. During this time the location maintained a relatively positive experience and environment. Enough so to look past some of the inconsistencies in its operation, and ethics. After playing some time, an incident occurred with another member. The other member began to state they were upset for being called “racist” by another player during a different session they had played in, within the same breath, the accused then proceeded to use a racial slur to describe another group of individuals to prove their point of not being racist. The comments upset myself, other players at the table, as well as the dealer, and hospitality associates on location. When confronted about their actions they continued to offend, as the incident escalated I was asked to calm myself as the accused was comforted for being held accountable. The management never made an attempt to remedy the matter themselves, only communicated through their associates and instead entered the free-roll tournament that was occurring and began play. The ownership was present during the incident and made no attempt to hold the member accountable. The offending member was allowed to continue play, as the offending member is related to the management. Not a sign of ethical business practices. I requested a return of my entry, and was obliged, as I stated I would not continue play if the member was allowed to as well. As a business consultant, it is clear that this location has struggled due to the lack of accountability in the room, and needs business direction, leadership development, operational support, and Human Resources training for it to succeed. Leadership failing to address such actions will continue to drive players away and create a space that only invites further disregard. Action reflects leadership, and I wish them the best of luck in the future.
