For me, the Melbourne Greyhound Park poker room (Club 52) is a dream come true.
I have always wanted to live near enough (25 min for me from Cocoa), to be able to really test and improve my poker skills, and have the fun and sometimes excitement of getting in a big hand or winning the High Hand prize. After 23 visits, averaging 4 hours each for most of them, playing 1-2 NL Hold'em, I am up a nice little comfort reserve of winnings ("for me, not big money but well over a grand"). I have been playing pretty tight but let myself get a little loose here and there to see if I can draw out. I am trying to advance to a little more aggressive style necessary to win bigger money and play the bigger pots.
There are a lot of players on popular days and weekends, most are there to have fun and aren't afraid to gamble a little.
The place is clean, well run, well staffed and thriving.
If you follow sports, there are many dozens of big screens showing all major sports being played, and all the major horse tracks.
A concierge will take your ITW bet right at the poker table if you wish, and you can watch the race from your seat.
