I play at the MGM approximately 4 days a week. Don't let the locals discourage you, we average around one per table at the MGM. And that's not even to say we're something to be feared.
The dealers almost never make mistakes, the floors make reasonable rulings... The only drawback to this room is the music from Centrifuge which gets loud every half hour when the bartenders 'dance' (it would be better if you could at least see the show). An attempt to insulate the room from the sound is the best improvement they could make.
There's a reason I play here every day. Not only is this an easy game, but no matter what type of game you like, you can find it as easily as a table change. From the most aggressive drunks and high roller wannabes, to the softest chicks and grinders.
These guys are fantastic. Take the time to get to know them.
An item of clarification: The minimum buy-ins for 1-2 and 2-5 NL are $40 and $100 respectively.
The Editor's review erroneously states that dealers can summon a cocktail waitress from their electronic console. This is not the case. However, they can summon a floor to expedite the waitress' return from this console. Furthermore, that is NOT redbull you're getting. It is an imitation (granted, an excellent imitation) energy drink that nobody bothers to clarify when you order redbull.
That said, about 50% of the waitresses are efficient and sweet. The rest lack personality, and will forget or mess up your drink regularly.
Management at MGM is exceptionally professional and efficient.
Poker room rates have many restrictions I would advise travelers to look into ahead of time. The other comp available is $1 per hour of play good towards almost every restaurant in MGM (they just changed this comp to remove the $10 per day max). This comp will get the average out-of-town player a sandwich a day. This comp gets the average serious (and MGM devoted)local VERY nice dinners for two about once a month.
