The only downside to this large and comfortable room is the noise from the slots and the night club it stretches around. But the great location means rail birds and lots of walk-ins contribute to the soft play. The computerized lists are large and easy to see, which is good because you won’t hear you name being called over the din on a busy night. The auto shufflers and the signal pads for the dealers keep the cards flying, the seats full, and the chip runners running. Despite the noise, it earns a 5 compared to the other rooms in town.
The 1-2 200 max NL players were average for the strip, so pretty soft compared to anywhere else in the world, at least at the 1-2 level--much softer than any 1-2 online games I‘ve seen. All the expensive mistakes mean +EV opportunities for any competent player. I played all hours of the day for 11 days, and only once did I face more than 2 good players on any full table. Too many players buy short, but since the short money is generally weak, it’s hard to complain. Some locals and dealers play, but mostly guests and tourists. Friday night proved to be the only time I had to wait more than 12 minutes for a seat.
Better than most in Vegas, with a couple of great or unbelievably fast ones. Few errors, good table control despite the many inexperienced players. Friendlier than average too.
Good drinks, usually fast (except between 3 and 7 AM – a few thirsty tables during those hours), attractive servers.
The friendly MGM management is really good at getting the seats filled quickly, chips to the players, etc., in other words, keeping the play going. The good floor rulings—well and patiently explained—are rarely required. Good luck getting a rake-reduction though; it seems they can always find another table for the enquiring players.
$1/hr. No jackpots (so lower rake). We were unable to take advantage of some deal where you can earn 40$ a day off your hotel bill because of how we booked; it sounded interesting though. When we cashed out some points for a free buffet, no one cared that we were a few points short. You can join the players’ club right in the poker room.
