MotorCity Casino is one of Detroit’s leading poker venues. Motor City’s name makes reference to Detroit’s major status in the automobile industry, with factory workers and executives alike often populating the room on Friday nights. Being aware of this, it is usually a smart idea to call the poker room in advance of a visit to reserve a seat. A two-hour wait can face players who are not so forward-thinking.
MotorCity offers 37 total tables (17 cash, 20 tournament), and offers cash game players $1-$2 comp dollars per hour played.
Poker VIP Program: 150 hours played per quarter is VIP I, 250 hours played per quarter is VIP II. VIP has access to retail discounts, exclusive casino giveaways, a quarterly cash comp bonus and a free hotel room once a month.
Cash games offered: 1-2 NL; 2-5 NL; 1-3 PLO; other games and limits based on demand.
Tournaments: Currently the go-to choice in Detroit for tournaments. Three weekly tournaments ranging from $120 - $170 buy-ins getting typically between 80-120 entries. Sunday, Monday, Thursday. Monthly Saturday tournament with $100,000 guaranteed prize pool and $300 entry gets right around 550 entries. All tournaments are re-entry NLH. Recently introduced the “MotorCity 313 Guarantee” Tournament. The event is expected to run periodically.
