I think this is the best room in Las Vegas, and I made it a point to say so to the floor manager working near my table. There seems to be a game here for everyone. Comfortable, well lit, just the right amount of space between tables. Great eye candy walking by. Easy access from the Strip.
This review is for the $8/16 Omaha Hi-Lo with 1/2 Kill. Intimidating at first because I've never played this level, and wasn't sure what to expect. Turned out there was nothing to worry about. I bought in for $200 (a little short, but that's all I had in my wallet at the time). I bled off about $140 by playing weak for the first 1.5 hours. Once I figured out who the rocks, aggros, and dimwits were, it was pretty smooth sailing. About half the table played ABC O8B strategy (predictable), no maniacs, a couple of loose beginner/calling stations, at least one obvious bluffer... it was pretty easy to tell who to avoid and who to play. A number of locals came and went from the table, though none were better than average. One geeezer in particular was a calling station who frequently misread his hand. Keep your eyes open for younger players with big stacks... there are a number of people playing O8B here that know what they are doing. To be honest, I've seen tougher competition at the $4/8 O8B (multiple maniacs and schooling fish, making for high variance). I finished +420 in about 4 hours.
Mostly excellent, though a couple struggled with quartered and side pots (-1 point). No drama. The pretty much concentrated on dealing, but would also exchange a little banter here and there. Good vibes.
This is a big room, so there's probably a longer wait than some of the smaller rooms. That said, the waitress was around when I needed a refill -- happy to see they served Stoli and Patron. Above average appearance and attire. Bonus points for in-room food service and massage.
No delay in getting on the list when I arrived (take a hint, Bellagio). They were on the ball filling seats. I waited about 20 minutes before a seat opened. Good communication between the floor, dealer and chip runner. Floor stayed on top of the must-move list, and didn't put up with BS from the regulars. When a player was shorted $20 when re-buying at the end of a dealer's down, the floor got his supervisor as well as the shift manager involved right away and fixed the error promptly (and was respectful and apologetic to the player, who felt stupid for not paying attention in the first place).
Asked for my card immediately when I sat down. Not sure what I earned, but in the past I have redeemed at Grand Lux Cafe, etc.
