Nice Room - Nice Tournament

A wonderful little room with 8 good quality tables. Its about 1200-1500 sq ft of separated room just off the escalators to the parking garage. Very quiet and clean as it is off the main casino corridor away from the cigarette smoke and slot machines. The decor is very elegant and plush with textured taupe walls, wood accents good lighting and 7 wide screen HDTVs on the wall. It definately has a lounge type atmosphere and is very relaxing. The table felt was in good shape and has motifs of the girls from the Sirens and Tangerine shows imprinted on the material. All the tables are equipped with auto shufflers and automated card swipers to track player hours and open seats at each table. The also come with a committment line, faux leather bumpers and built-in cup holders. The chairs are a level higher than your average conference chair with comfortable upholstrey and there are extra cushions if you need them. They have a computerized waiting list and the front desk was easily accessible and manned with a very friendly staff.

The competition was a good mix of solid players with a few fish, 1 calling station and one guy who was on big-time tilt. I watched the $1/3 NL game and there seemed to be 3-4 players to a preflops raise of 5xBB. After the flop players would fold to a good pot sized bet. It seemed to be easy to get people to fold their draws too. Good solid poker with plenty of money to be made for a good player.

The dealers were all very good. I played the tournament and all of my dealers kept the game moving and called out the hand as it was being played. Everyone knew when it was their turn and what the bets and raises were as the dealers would verbalize the action. They were also well-versed in the rules of being able to re-buy back into the tournament after busting out (during the first hour). They were also good about bringing in new players behind the button when the tables were balanced. We never needed floor intervention as the dealers kept things in order. I only saw one overturned card during 3 hours of play and there were no misdeals or mistakes to speak of.

Sevice was average. I saw the waitress but she never made it to me to ask me if I wanted a drink. Some of the boys were complaining about the slow service. I guess since the room is tucked away so far from the action, the waitresses don't get there very often.

Management seemed very good. I was greeted right away when I walked up to the desk by the shift manager and 2 floor people. They were very nice about answering my questions and were very helpful to other patrons looking to play in the room.

TI takes the MGM/Mirage player's card. The average comp is $1/hr with monthly specials which may increase it to $2/hr. Room rates are $79/night Sun-Thur for 6 hours of play and $129/night, Fri-Sat for 8 hour of play. They have a daily high-hand jackpot for quads or better with up to $600 in free play. The room does not take a rake for the bonus money.

TI has started to spread both tournaments and Sit-n-Go's. Check out the message forums for more info.
