Simply the best room I saw in Vegas (or anywhere) save maybe the Bellagio. Loved playing here. Tables are nice, chairs are ultra plush, chips are top notch (very classy design top quality Paulson). Took me a few minutes to calm down and relax, but as things progressed, I felt more and more at home.
Competition in the Friday $500 tourney was very good. Obviously at this buy-in level you will eliminate many fishy players or first timers. I actually think this is a great thing in a tounrament. In a cash game you can wait to take advantage of "easy" players, but in a tournament it is much more about strategy and putting players to the test. I prefer a skilled field over a fishy field in this type of tournament any day. One guy at my table had been on TV for the WSOP. Another was a guy from London who looked like I had seen him before as well. Another was an older ex-Senator. Great competition.
Very, very good. They are using the automatic shufflers, and they are very quick at changing decks. This allows for even more actual playing time while the tournament clock ticks. I don't think I saw a single mistake during the whole 6.5 hours I played.
Stunning. Made me want to just sit and play for as long as I could - there was nowhere else I wanted to be. One player at my table started tipping our server for "just coming by". That sums it up right there. Oh yeah, and they really did do a great job of running drinks out to those that wanted one.
Over the top. I've never been treated so well at any card room I have played in, and beleive me, I'm just a chump. Lady that signed me in for my card was exceptionally nice - "if there is anything I can ever do for you Mr. X, I work 10 - 6 weekdays and my name is X". Tournament director was extremely proffessional while running the event and thanked me for coming after he paid me out my cash. "I hope you had a great time today at the Wynn and we hope to see you again" - with that kind of service, I gaurantee they will.
Nothing to report here - I really just came for the 3:00 tourney, and left after I busted out in fourth spot, so no info to share.
