Arrived alone for an extended session at the Wynn around 10pm wednesday evening. This was my first visit to the Wynn, as I was staying at the MGM. Beautiful poker room. I was surprised at the crowds as well; as I did have to wait about 30 minutes for a seat at the 1-3 NL game. (This is the lowest NL game offered here.) The room is situated only a back entrance to the casino; where you have a view of all the club goers proceeding by throughout the evening. Which can be either entertaining, or distracting; depending on your disposition. I did enjoying watching the many intoxicated folks make their way out of the casino as the bars closed after 4a.m.
My table was a mix of locals and several guys with money to burn. The action was intense; as I saw several pots over 500 dollars in the first 30 minutes at the table. There was this Asian guy who had 1200$ in front of him; while most players had between 200 and 400. He would bluff you all the way through a hand; if he sensed weakness. Which worked well for me when my J9 suited flopped the straight. I checked th flop; and he bet the pot on a flop of 8 10 Q . I called ; and again checked the turn. He announce that he would "Put me all in" , as i had only 200$ back. I happily called and he flipped over A8 for bottom pair. I managed to make a few hundred in the first 4 hours here; but then the table thinned and they condensed our table with another from across the room. The competition became much more fierce as the night progressed. Half of the players at the table had played together before; and were involved in massive pots with cards like Ace high. I was seeing reraises on the river with bottom pair; and calls with ace high too. By 8 a.m. I was now down 200 dollars; and not ready to leave on that note. We had a Doyle Brunson look-a-like who had joined recently and proceeded to reraise all in for 700 dollars preflop whenever someone raised from early position. He only was called once ; and had to show AJ; against KK. He hit his Ace on the flop and called out" That's poker!!" Wow, I thought; this clown will pay me off if i just wait him out. Sure enough; about 3 hours later; I'm still down about 225; I get AA in 3rd position. Our Cowboy is under the gun and announces a straddle. I raise it up to 24 dollars; 4 times his live straddle. Everyone gets out; and The Cowboy announces a reraise. He has taken several beats; and is down to about 500 dollars. I am still sitting with about 425. He reraises me to 48 dollars. I call. (probably where i made the mistake) Flop is 8 10 K . He bets ; 40$$ I raise to 140$. He goes all in. I heisitate; and call my last 200. He flips over 88 and i go home after 12 hrs at Wynn...down 650$$
All in all, it's a great room, if u are a skilled player. I did however have much more success at the MGM and Venetian.
Dealers here were very solid; no misdeals in my 12 hr session. Once the auto-shuffler broke, when someone tossed their chips as it closed; and the went right inside. We had to wait 15 min. for the Floor to retrieve them!!
Beautiful cocktailers here! Several knockouts during my time there. Drinks came rapidly and delicious.
Management was right on top of things, handled several drunk players who were causing trouble perfectly; escorting them away after the third time the guy stood up and yelled, " How the F do you call with that?"
Was only there one session; and never got a players card, so my knowledge of the comps there is zero.
