Friendly staff & dealers except fot 1 waitress. Atmosphere was pretty typical for a poker room - non-smoking, which was nice.
Because there is so much hype surrounding hold-em these days, that every newbie now wants to sit at a hold-em table. Consequently, there were few stud tables. Only 3, 1-5 stud games (sometimes only 1 or 2, a 5-10 game and a 10-20, but nothing in the 3-6 or 4-8 range. With most of the newer and weaker players playing hold-em, that left mostly tight & agressive locals at the stud tables. A good player can still squeeze out a profit, but you have to be patient.
Waitresses were nothing to get too excited about and were in no hurry. One in particular was a real witch. Another player commented that they must have a strong union!
I was in a bad beat hand, one guy had quad 5s and was beat by quad 9s. Unfortunately, I did not get to share in a jackpot, because they don't have one at the Mirage. That is not all bad though, because with no bad beat jackpot, there is no rake coming out of the pots to fund it. In low limit, between the house rake and tipping dealers and waitresses eats enough of one's profit.
