The room was in great condition. Even at 12am, everything seemed alive. Of course, when I bust out in 14th, when my made flush on the turn lost to the powerful Q-8, with an eight on the river, my thoughts changed. Also, the one cash no-limit game had several loud people who made it hard to concentrate in the tourney. Management probably made 3 trips over there in two hours to corral them.
In a 50 person tournament, there were probably 10 or so dealers/locals who appeared to play regularly. Other than that, there were drunks who played every hand, novices who called big pre-flop raises, and flop bets, and then folded the turn or river, and maniacs who won huge pots with lucky cards (e.g. 9-3...hey, they were suited?!)
The dealers worked very hard, and most were very proficient. Even 2 1/2 hours into the tournament, their execution was flawless, and most were young and energetic.
I don't order anything but water, however, the service appeared to be once an hour. But think about it, the casinos don't make as much off poker as slots, so why not focus on getting the slots/table games players drunker. Poker players can be too demanding at times. You came to play poker right, if you want to drink, go to the bar.
The management did a great job. In one notable decision, a player went all-in and then flipped up his cards. The floor ruled correctly that his hand was "not dead" as some players tried to encourage. He simply got the idiot of the night award.
Who knows? Aren't they all $1/hour.
